infection

This work was created as part of a semester project dealing with the infection because of the coronavirus. An exhibition was planned with three sculptures. The paths of the visitors through the exhibition should have been recorded using Kinect and then made visible to the visitors in another room. The project was intended to pay attention to the distance and hygiene rules in the corona crisis and to sensitize for them.

There are three sculptures: Their surface is spherical and cracked, the spheres symbolize the viruses that attack an organism, break it open and slowly destroy it. The cracks show the decay of the living being, which is depicted in an organic-abstract form. The design of the sculptures was purely intuitive; on the one hand, they are intended to come close to people in their soft, curved form, making you want to touch them. On the other hand, they are intended to appear archaic and to indicate death and viral infection. A pandemic is something archaic, nature has us completely under control, we are not the rulers of the world as we often believe. Even today we are largely powerless against illness and death.
